Many International Literacy Day events are happening across the province and country in addition to this International Literacy Day Challenge and public awareness campaign.

In Chatham, guest Author/Presenters Bryan & Shannon Prince will be on hand to conduct a free reading for Adults from Bryan’s novel entitled “A Shadow On The Household.”

At the Rideau Canal Museum in Smiths Falls, a series of videos will be launched that highlight local organizations that offer programs and services in literacy and essential skills upgrading, and employment resources.

My first day of classes at university falls on International Literacy Day. Certainly makes me think of how important literacy has been and continues to be in my life. University students everywhere should keep this is mind. We should not take literacy or the doors it has opened for us for granted!
